Due to it's location on the West coast Doolin has many attractions to offer and can also be used as a base for activities and sight seeing in the surrounding areas. Some of the more interesting activities include:

- Day trips to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher from Doolin Pier
- Doolin with its splendid views of the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher is an ideal location for relaxing and taking long walks on the shoreline and in the surrounding countryside.

- Swimming in Doolin which is only recommended in the cove area around Doolin Pier.
- Bouldering, which is a type of Rock Climbing that is done on low cliffs and large boulders. The coast near Doolin boasts one of the best locations in Ireland for doing this comparatively new sport. A 3 minute drive from Doolin followed by a 10 minute walk brings you to the location at Lackglass
- Doolin is a famous surfing area, with the main surfing carried out at the back of Crab Island.
- Doolin Cave system, which contains some long underground passages. Note this is only suitable for experienced cavers with the correct potholing equipment. In Doolin you will also find in Pol and Ionann the longest known free hanging stalactite in the world. This cave and stalactite are now open to the public
- Due to the clear waters on the West Coast Doolin and its surroundings are very good areas for fishing and angling.
- Visits to the Cliffs of Moher, which are 5 miles (8 Kilometres) from Doolin.
- Doolin is on the southern edge of the Burren and is an ideal base for exploration of this famous botanical and geological area.
- Visit to Ailwee Cave in Ballyvaughan, approximately 12 miles (20 Kilometres) from Doolin.
- Visit Lisdoonvarna, with it's world famous sulphur wells, 4 miles (7 Kilometres) from Doolin.
- Golfing in the famous links course in Lahinch, 10 miles (16 Kilometres) from Doolin.
